Built in 1958 by Davide Primo Lattes, the Magdalena Laura has stepped facades and a space filling both sides. During its renovation, the building gained terraces with gardens of native Brazilian plants.
With its large spaces and ceiling heights, the building presented challenges during its retrofit. The brass from the handrails, which no longer met contemporary safety standards, was recycled into handles and other visual communication pieces. All terrazzo flooring was restored and mixed with a new composition of the material, as well as the granite used in the building's original architectural design.
